Kato Kiyomasa Statue
April 28th, 2008
Kato Kiyomasa Statue with intentional motion blur to give sense of movement. Many people were snapping a shot of this either on their phones or regular cameras and so I thought I’d try something different.
Rooms with a View
April 28th, 2008
Rooms with a View displays how massive the Castle is and provides additional up close detail. It’s quite an exciting castle when you get up close. The golden dolphins or Kinshachi are one of the best known items associated with Nagoya Castle.
MAKE Graffiti
April 25th, 2008
MAKE Graffiti - A Graffiti Tag by an artist called MAKE. I like the blue background very much. There is a ton of graffiti popping up these days around Nagano and other Japanese cities.
Tower of Nagoya Castle
April 25th, 2008
I thought the three towers of Nagoya castle were just as interesting if not more than the main castle itself. Most people were running towards the castle, but I really liked the isolated feeling of the towers and wondered what it must have been like perched up there during the golden days of Japan.
Nagoya Castle Tower
April 25th, 2008
This is one of the Nagoya towers up close. I liked the tree on the right and the grungy sort of feel of the tower with the windows and cracks of the walls. The stones at the base are really interesting too with some of the even having graffiti written on them which I will post at a later time. Very fascinating.
Kanji on White
April 24th, 2008
I see and photograph a lot of various lanterns in Japan, but interestingly enough I don’t see a lot of black kanji on white ones in my area. I added a paper texture to the photo and did some slight dodging and burning to create a different look.
Shutter Streak
April 19th, 2008
Spent the day shooting at slower shutter speeds and came up with some interesting shots. This photograph was taken at 1/30 of a second and managed to still capture the image, but with an added interest of shutter streaks. I thought this looked pretty cool.
Praying for Time
April 19th, 2008
I saw this row of Budhas at a cemetary adjacent to Zenkoji Temple. They are abundant in Japan and often interesting to photograph. Here I was experimenting with different angles and chose a Sepia tone for the final processing.
